JOELLEN LAPIDUS is one of the pioneers of contemporary mountain dulcimer playing, songwriting, and instrument construction. She introduced the dulcimer to Joni Mitchell and made three instruments for her between 1968 and 1976. Joellen builds dulcimers and teaches in West Los Angeles. |
NEAL HELLMAN is a nationally acclaimed performer and teacher of the mountain dulcimer. He has been active in performing, writing, teaching, and recording acoustic music for the past 30 years. Neal is founder, director, and one of the primary artists on the Gourd Music record label. |

THE FILMMAKERS
Patricia Delich and Wayne Jiang are a husband-and-wife team who met playing the mountain dulcimer. They turned their love of the dulcimer into Hearts of the Dulcimer, their first film. Hearts of the Dulcimer was written, directed, and produced by Patricia and Wayne. PATRICIA DELICH holds a doctoral degree in educational technology, and has directed and produced several educational videos. Patricia has played dulcimer since the mid-1970s. Her duties included production sound, second camera, sound design, and editing. WAYNE JIANG is an accomplished fine artist and designer, having won several awards for his work. Wayne plays dulcimer as well as many other stringed instruments. His duties included director of cinematography, main camera, and editing. |
